The freshwater algae Chlorella has a high vitamin and mineral content and is an excellent dietary supplement, especially for vegans.

This single-celled green algae consists primarily of a nucleus and a large amount of readily available chlorophyll (4% of dry mass). It contains a large number of protein-bound amino acids , 10-15% of the dry mass consists of 80% unsaturated fatty acids , and has a high content of representatives of the B vitamin group .
